Thanks, Jon, for another fun episode. I have a suggestion about the initial change of Billy Batson into Captain Marvel, to go along with your suggestion that intention plays a part in the change: Perhaps, the Wizard, Shazam, himself, cast the spell that first time, with his intention being pronounced in his “Speak my name!”, and Billy’s response of “Shazam!” was the trigger for the spell. From that point on, the intention behind saying that name belonged to Billy. Let me know if you need my mailing address to send my “No-Prize”.
Also, thank you for leading me to look up Emperor Joshua Norton. Fascinating character, living in a fascinating time and place.
Hi Jon
I’m doing an *almost* full read through of Superman. Starting from Action Comics 1 and at least going through to Action 583. I’m skipping Justice League, Superboy and the Legion as I’ve done marathons of those series before, but I’m including Supergirl, World’s Finest, DC Comics Presents, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane and any other solo Superman related story I can remember.
I’m up to 1960 now, finally past the dregs of 1950s sitcom Superman era and into the Weisinger Silver Age. Almost half way!
