Wow! I can’t imagine what readers, of the time this was published, would make of this. Without some background knowledge about vampires, as we currently have, as a culture, this must have been blood-curdling horror.
Right?? The beginnings of lore are always fascinating to me. Of course, oral tales of vampires are centuries older than this book, but still.
