GASup 004 — August 1938

Welcome back to Golden Age Superman.  This episode, in Action Comics 4, Superman decides to play football.  Yes, the champion of the oppressed is stopping thugs while potentially ruining a man’s life in the process.  But by chance, it all manages to work out in the end.

GASup 003 — July 1938

Welcome again to Golden Age Superman.  This episode, I spend a little time with Action Comics 3, which features Superman in costume for all of one panel.  The story is a pretty simple morality tale, so the episode goes quickly.

ASMC 022 – Amazing Spider-Man 31 and 32

Welcome to the first episode of Amazing Spider-Man Classics for the new year 2011!  I hope you enjoyed the raw uberlong Christmas episode.  This one is of a bit more manageable length, but it’ll probably still be one of the larger items in your podcast folder.  Not that size matters, of course!

This episode, Josh Bertone had to bow for health reasons but left us instructions to continue without him.  So Jon Wilson and Don Grant are joined by the one and only Scott Gardner of the podcasts Two True Freaks!, Back to the Bins!, Tales of the Justice Society of America, and Death and the Acrid Smell of Gunsmoke: The Jonah Hex Podcast, all of which can be found at one website and under the Two True Freaks! podcast feed on iTunes.

This episode, it’s college time for Peter, where he meets a new cast of chracters, including Emma Stone!  But he’s so worried about his aunt’s health, he pays them no attention and is immediately shunned for it because these guys have real class!

Don’t forget to send us an email and let us know what you think, or share your thoughts in the comment section below.  As always, we enjoy receiving reviews on iTunes, which will also receive response on the show.  And thank you so much for listening!

GASup 002 — June 1938

Welcome back to Golden Age Superman.  This episode, we take a look at Action Comics 2, resolving last week’s “Oh, no, falling!” cliffhanger.  It’s a more standard episode length until we get to multiple books per episode.

I hope you enjoy the ride.  Golden Age Superman is a proud member of the Superman Podcast Network.  If you wish to send feedback, you may do so in the comments below or via email.  You can also subscribe to the show through iTunes.  Thank you for listening!

Golden Age Superman 001 — May 1938

Welcome and thank you for checking out this new podcast on the Golden Age Superman.  Here, we’ll be covering every appearance of the character from Action Comics 1 forward.

In this first episode, I take some time to introduce myself and the purpose of the show, but then we get down to business examining the first issue of Action Comics, focusing on the Superman story, but also taking a brief look at the rest of the contents of the issue.

For now, each episode will simply consist of an Action Comics synopsis and review.  Down the road, when there are multiple issues per month, I’ll cover those as well, grouping issues into episodes according to release date.  Most of Superman’s titles were not monthly, so cover dates are sometimes hard to classify, so we’ll stick to approximate release dates of the issues.

I hope you enjoy the ride.  Golden Age Superman is a proud member of the Superman Podcast Network.  You can follow the show on Facebook or subscribe to it on iTunes.  If you wish to send feedback, you may do so below or via email.  Thank you for listening!

ASMC 021 – Amazing Spider-Man Annual 2 and 30

The drought is over.  The hiatus is ended.  Amazing Spider-Man Classics is back with its longest episode ever, just for you for the holiday season!

We are joined again this episode by Eddie deAngelini, comic archive researcher for With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story., as we take a look at Spider-Man’s second annual and thirtieth monthly issues of his series.  Also, Brad Douglas of the Spider-Man Crawlspace sticks his head in for some emails at the beginning of the show.

Speaking of emails, Aiden Mohan sent us an email discussing the future of Princess Python, and he references a Punisher cover featuring her that can be found here.

I am starting a new weekly podcast with the new year.  If you have any interest in the World War II adventures of a certain caped action hero, join me on January 1 for the premiere of Golden Age Superman.  It’s bound to be a great journey through the early adventures of the first superhero.

Your comments are always welcome via email!  Or share your thoughts in the comment section below.  And we enjoy receiving reviews on iTunes, which will also receive response on the show.  Thanks for listening!
